Artist's Description

This was taken late in the afternoon with the angle of the winter sun very low in sky. It created a shadow that almost looks almost projected onto the snow. I think that was caused by the sun being filtered through other trees.

For quite a few years, my wife Kathy and I have been paddling, hiking, camping, snowshoeing, and back-country skiing the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York. We never tire of the spectacular scenery and wildlife that we are so fortunate to see. Wherever we go, my camera is in my boat, backpack, or shoulder. While I spent most of my adult life living in the suburbs of New York City, I started coming up to the Adirondacks in the late 1960's. I bought my first vacation house up here in 1982.
